Diwali at Roxeth
The Roxeth Assembly Group, namely Aaria, Erum, Grace and Shazeen, held a Diwali assembly, under the guidance of Mrs Merali, on Thursday 7th November. Roxeth children learned that Diwali, also called Deepavali, is the Hindu, Jain and Sikh festival of light. It symbolises the spiritual victory of good over evil, of light over dark and knowledge over ignorance!
The Assembly group interviewed Mrs Bhudia and children in Year 6 - Aryan, Vyom and Disha who celebrate Diwali to get different perspectives on what Diwali means to them and how they celebrate it. Mrs Bhudia explained that for her Diwali is a special time for her and her family. They celebrate it by giving presents to her children, going to the temple early in the morning and celebrating such a lovely festival with her family and friends. Whilst Aaryan, Vyom from 6G thoroughly enjoy the meeting friends and family, eating delicious foods and the great fireworks.
It is really refreshing to see the children at Roxeth take ownership of projects and spend their precious lunchtime preparing for assemblies that enhance everyone’s knowledge and understanding of the diverse religions that are represented at Roxeth.
