Y1 The See-Saw

In English, Year 1 have been reading The See-Saw, a story about Sofia, who loses her cherished teddy bear. The sea then takes the bear on a journey before reuniting it with Sofia. Inspired by the story, the children wrote postcards and letters from the bear’s perspective, and finally created their own versions of the tale. In Maths, the children have been exploring fractions and learning how to find ½ and ¼ of shapes and quantities.
In Art, the children have been busy making paper-based 3D art form. The children have loved exploring different techniques such as rolling, twisting, folding and scrunching to bring their ideas to life to create their paper sculptures. Alongside their individual masterpieces, they also worked collaboratively in groups to create impressive spider sculptures inspired by Louise Bourgeois’ Maman sculpture.
