YEAR 6

The year 6 team continue to send you our thoughts and best wishes and we hope you and your families are keeping well. The reason there is no ‘week 8’ learning is due to half term. This might be a week where you want to spend focusing on your own interests or of course, we have provided you with lots of other websites to use which you can find on the Roxeth website.

WEEK 10 English

Monday:  Read through the ‘ Formal and Informal Writing’ information sheet .  Think of 3 examples of formal writing (eg letter) and 3 examples of informal writing (eg text message).  Use the activity sheet to classify the text types into formal or informal and find examples of each text type using safe searching online.

Tuesday:  Look at the example letter on the activity sheet.  Rewrite the letter to make it more formal by focusing on the underlined words and phrases on P1.  If you are feeling confident, use the letter on P3 without underlined words instead.

Wednesday:  Look at the example emails on the activity sheet.  Write replies to the emails on P1 in the same formal/informal style.

Thursday:  Refer back to the same email activity sheet from yesterday.  Complete the task on P2 writing emails back to the cereal company.  You can complete this task on 2Email (Purple Mash) if you wish, as well as replying to your teacher’s emails if you haven’t done so already!

Friday:  Complete the Formal/Informal mini-test.  Mark your own test using answers at the bottom of the document once completed.

Tuesday:    Think about the ballerina visiting the village in ‘The Clock Tower’ and use P8 of the workbook to complete the poem.

Wednesday:  Use P9 of the workbook to imagine and create your own character who may live in the village of ‘The Clock Tower’.
