Tasks: This week you will be looking at a different Biome each day. You will need to create a poster, a PowerPoint presentation or a fact-file about each Biome, containing all of the interesting facts you have learned and researched.

Use the information in the Biomes pdfs to help you get started.

You should include information about

  • Climate (rainfall and temperature)

  • Animals that inhabit that area

  • Vegetation/plants that grow there

  • Any other extra information you find from your own research!

English Week 14

Lesson 1
Read through the comprehension about Rosa Parks. Answer the questions based on what you have read. Remember that all of the answers will be in the text or clues for the answers will be in the text.
Lesson 2
Complete the SPaG Mats.
Lesson 3
Go through the ‘Uplevelling Sentences’ pdf and complete the tasks. Have a look at the ‘Uplevelling Posters’ if you need an extra example of how to uplevel writing.
Lesson 4
Today you are going to write a story using a story opener. Look through the ‘Story Starter’ pdf and choose just one of the sentences to use. You can plan your story out first using whatever method suits you best (e.g. storyboard or hand-plan).
Lesson 5
Edit and uplevel your story from yesterday. Check for grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes. Then think about how you can improve what you have written (look back at the tips you were using for lesson 3). Have you included different types of sentences, punctuation and vocabulary?

English Week 15

Lesson 1: Harry Potter and the Setting Descriptions. Go through the Setting Description’ pdf and create your own descriptions of the Great Hall and Forbidden Forest.
Lesson 2: Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Houses. Have a look at the ‘Hogwarts House’ pdf, looking at the features of each House. Now you are going to create your own Hogwarts House. Create a poster that aims to persuade people to join your House.
Lesson 3: Harry Potter and the Patronus. Work your way through the tasks in the Patronus’ pdf. You do not need to do tasks one or two.
Lesson 4: Harry Potter and the Mythical Creatures. Write your own non chronological report, either featuring a mythical creature from Harry Potter (e.g. Unicorn, Hippogriff or Phoenix) or you may make your very own creature up.
Go through the ‘Writing a Non-Chronological Report’ pdf and then read through the non-chronological report example, thinking about the features that make it a report.
Lesson 5: Harry Potter and the New Adventure. Write your own Harry Potter short story! Use the ‘Narrative Checklist’ to help you plan/write your story.
Things to think about:
- What characters are going to feature?
- What is going to be the problem?
- Who is the villain in the story?
- Will there be a mythical creature?
- What magic will help solve the
problem?
