This term we would have been learning about our local area. There is evidence of Roman settlements in this area. When you are out, why not take a drive through Stanmore. On Brockley Hill the Romans used to make pottery. Nearby is Watling Street, which was built on top of an original Roman road. You can still see how straight the road is. This road stretched for miles. At its end, thought to be in Shropshire, Boudicca was defeated in the Battle of Watling Street. Stanmore Common is a lovely place for a walk. Roman coins and pottery have been found there and in the roads all around this area.
